LGBTQIA+ Network of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) and in collaboration with the NFALA Foundation request your presence for our very first NFALA-ganza!, a virtual NFALA Pride Event which will be held on June 25, 2021. 6PM-8PM PST. Funds raised from the event will provide law school scholarships for LGBTQIA+ Fil-Am students.
NFALA-ganza! will be a 2 hour virtual event that will bring together attorneys, judges, professors, and law students from across the country to celebrate all that we are and the promise of who we have yet to become. The event, hosted by NYC drag queen extraordinaire Divasoria, will feature speakers from the LGBTQIA+ community, including: David Lat, author and legal commentator; Wesley Bizzell, LGBT Bar President; Maria Hinayon, UCSF Complaints Resolution Officer and first-generation Filipina transwoman; and Joey Badua, gender fluid Filipinx immigrant representing low-income clients providing direct legal services. As we celebrate, our speakers will provide insight into the unique issues faced by Filipino/a/x attorneys and law students of color.
Of course, there will be lots of entertainment, including various lip sync performances and pre-recorded video montages featuring NFALA’s own homegrown talent.
The theme for our inaugural NFALA-ganza! is “Challenge Accepted.” Join us, accept the challenge, and become a sponsor!
Please join NFALA-ganza! LGBTQIA+ attorneys and allies in celebrating and promoting access to justice by supporting law students and bringing awareness to the unique issues faced by queer attorneys of color.

WHAT IS NFALA-GANZA!?
NFALA-ganza! is NFALA’s PRIDE celebration! In our very first year, while we wanted to celebrate in-person, we’re going virtual. We will showcase entertainment from NFALA folks throughout the nation and from special guests. We will also have short breakout sessions from featured speakers. Importantly, in collaboration with the NFALA Foundation, we’re raising monies to fund the LGBTQIA+ Scholarships. We will have a grand time.
WHO WILL PERFORM?
You will just have to attend to see which from our multi-talented family will perform. Also, our emcee Diva Soria and special guest Tila Pia created original performances for our entertainment. They are all not to be missed!
WHO ARE THE FEATURED SPEAKERS?
During the 15-minute breakout sessions, you have a choice among four featured speakers. They are author, legal commentator, and founder of Above the Law David Lat; LGBT Bar President Wesley Bizzell; UCSF Complaints Resolution Officer and first-generation Filipina transwoman, Maria Hinayon; and our very own Joey Badua, a gender fluid Filipinx Catholic-raised immigrant attorney representing the poor. All have unique insights from which we can reflect, learn, grow, and thrive.
IS THERE A FEE?
No, the event is free. We do ask that you kindly donate extra monies to fund our scholarships.
HOW DO I DONATE?
Thank you in advance for your generosity. Please visit: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=G4UEBNX8Q8RK8, or use the below QR code. Be sure to choose from the drop-down menu, “LGBTQ Scholarship.”
I’M STRAIGHT, MAY I ATTEND AND/OR SUPPORT?
Of course! Our success relies, in part, on our alliances with various members of society. Your love and support are most welcome.
HOW DO I WATCH?
You should have received the Zoom call-in details in your registration email (if not, a reminder email will be sent with the Zoom details). A few cities, like Seattle and Sacramento, are hosting in-person watch parties.
No matter how you watch, we invite you to turn on your video feed during the celebration. We do miss and want to see your lovely faces.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Be your fabulous celebratory authentic self! Some folks will be gender-bending. Others will be in drag. No matter what or who you wear, be and love yourself because you’re fabulous!
ANY OTHER TIPS?
Yes, for more fun, some folks will use an “alter-ego” or “drag” name while in Zoom. Feel free to share yours when you log in.
Also, our special professional performers would love to receive tips. Their payment sites will be available during and after the event.
WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS?
You may contact any of the co-chairs. We’d love to hear from you!
